Besom in Barnet relaunches
Besom in Barnet existed before for years but sadly after COVID, the team struggled to maintain activities due to some of the core team leaving the Borough and country, and some of the long-serving and faithful Trustees wishing to step down from their roles. This led to a smaller team.
However, one man’s dream kept alight in his heart. Not giving up and following God’s continual nudge, he prayerfully brought the desire to re-open Besom in Barnet to God without knowing how or where the time-givers and Trustees would come from!
Aaron Khattra-Hall heard of the need for new people to take up the reins and responded enthusiastically. He reached out to the Besom Network, and we did what we naturally do at Besom, pray! We have prayed together at our monthly Network prayer meetings for God to open doors and hearts and bring others along to join Aaron in relaunching the Besom Vision.
God listened and kept encouraging Aaron in small and big ways especially through a lady with a passion to help the local community in his church would encourage him to keep the dream alive and offered to help when the Besom started up again.
Fast forward, Aaron met regularly with his regional Network Facilitator, Annie, for advice and guidance and began with an initial plan of praying together with those who remained committed to relaunching. This was a key underpinning for everything that would develop later. With ongoing assistance from the Besom Network Support Team, he created a presentation which he shared with his local St Barnabus (Finchley, North London) on Sunday 12 th May. To say he got a good response is an understatement. God completely surprised him when he received ten responses from people who want to get behind the Besom in Barnet.

An unexpected gift of kindness
A few months ago, Steve and his team were collecting a big settee from a friend and giver. The neighbour across the road had several flower planters on the grass verge to prevent people from parking on the grass. Unfortunately, whilst reversing into his friend's drive, Steve drove over one of the planters demolishing it!
Realising that the property owner wasn’t in, Steve’s friend said that he would apologise on Steve’s behalf. Whilst apologising to the neighbour Steve’s friend explained all about Besom and how we rely on prayer.
Fast forward, the neighbour whose planter was destroyed, contacted Besom in Sheffield a few months later asking to give them a settee as they were downsizing.
Besom in Sheffield do not usually take three-seater settees, but they accepted the gift of kindness, little did they know that God had already lined up the perfect recipient for this.
As they pondered the delivery of a large settee, they concluded that it would have to go to someone with patio doors to make the delivery easier to manage.
Surprise from God
The very next day, Steve and his team discovered that Joy, Steve’s wife, had done an assessment for a lady who was being relocated from a refuge to a new home. As only God would have it, the lady not only needed a sofa but also had patio doors leading directly to her lounge area, making the settee delivery go smoothly.
You see, God always knows, and His plans are ahead of us even when we don’t know the solution. Besom in Sheffield can testify to that!
Bundles of Joy
We had an opportunity to visit the 'Bundles of Joy' team at the Besom in York and were so touched by their amazing trust in God for all their needs. But more so their joy and love for the community they serve.
Here's what Eliza shared with us. To find out more about 'Bundles of Joy', please contact the Besom in York.
